Mission

Karlayura Group exists to preserve Aboriginal cultural traditions, reconnect our people to country, and develop strong and self-sustaining communities.

Vision

To empower and create true sustainable pathways for our Aboriginal community, which starts with us providing a quality service to our clients.

Brian Tucker, Director of Karlayura Group

Brian is a traditional owner on Banyjima and Nyiyaparli country. Over his lifetime, he has witnessed the exodus of his people from their lands in search of employment, and recognised the impact this has had on their connection with culture and the land.

He established Karlayura in 2011 with the aim of giving local Aboriginal people another option. He worked with construction and mining companies to provide local employment opportunities for Aboriginal people; creating a model that would bring them back to country and provide them with the skills and opportunities they would need to stay on the land and reconnect with their culture.

Brian has been involved with numerous community, heritage and environmental programs for the past 30 years, and he currently sits on heritage boards with Australia’s largest mining companies.

Partnerships and Community

As part of our growth and development strategy, the Karlayura Group partners with other Aboriginal businesses to share capabilities and strengthen the Indigenous business sector. We also work with and support many local community organisations and grassroots projects each year.
